5G is not only about higher data rates! One of its big advantages are latency times of under one millisecond. In other words, extremely low values compared to today’s standards. In addition, electricity consumption should be reduced by a factor of 1000. It’s no wonder that 5G is also considered a pioneer for the “Netflix of games”. Traditional media such as music and videos have already been successfully converted and are now streamed, i.e. no longer loaded locally. This allows unlimited access to millions of songs, series and films, independent of local resources. Similar approaches are now being discussed for the games industry. This will not only enable new platform and monetisation models but also challenge traditional offerings.
